Job Summary

This position leads the Department's securities registration unit. In this capacity, this position directs, organizes, and plans the work of the unit and manages the unit's personnel. This position is responsible for the operations of the securities registration unit. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating the registration of over 1,500 franchises, mutual funds, subdivided lands/timeshares and other securities offerings in the state of Minnesota. This position coordinates activities with several other Department business units as well as other state and federal agencies and industry groups. This position provides input to the Chief Securities Director to set and implement policy, regulations and statutes in relation to securities registration activities.
This position includes the following:
Strategic planning, visioning, and policy analysis
Build consensus and support for the departments mission and objectives with a wide range of individual groups
Maintain strong working relationships within the department and with industry peers
Identify, analyze, and resolve a broad range of complex problems and sensitive issues
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field and 5 years professional experience in a risk, compliance or regulatory role
OR
Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related field and 4 years professional experience in a risk, compliance or regulatory role
OR
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Applicants who meet the above education and/or experience requirements must also meet the following in order to be considered further:
Experience as a supervisor, project manager and or lead worker
Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, preferably Microsoft Products
Customer service experience, demonstrated through professional planning
Preferred Qualifications
Private securities market experience which includes; franchises, time shares/subdivided land, crowdfunding, mutual funds and other securities offerings
Fraud prevention experience
Experience communicating and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, economic and ethnic backgrounds
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes and lifting and frequently carrying light objects such as files and laptop computers
