2023 JH Award Winner Spotlight on Chuck Senatore
A blog from NSCP’s Executive Director, Lisa Crossley
One of my favorite parts about being NSCP’s Executive Director is having the privilege to announce the JH Award Winner each year. Named after NSCP’s former Executive Director, Joan Hinchman, this award is ingrained in the history and culture of NSCP and honors a member of the financial services industry who is a true leader for the entire compliance community. This year’s winner certainly embodies the spirit of the JH Award, and his story is one worth reading.
Meet Chuck Senatore: an industry veteran, the“Godfather of Compliance,” and NSCP’s 2023 JH Award Winner.
Chuck's journey through the financial services industry spans a remarkable trajectory. From his formative years as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Public Corruption Section to his pivotal role as a Director at the SEC's Southwest Region, Chuck's insights were honed through diverse experiences in both public service and the private sector.
His legacy unfolds through a wide variety of engagements – consulting for early-stage Fintech and Regtech companies, serving as a strategic advisor to entities like Fidelity Digital Asset Services, LLC, and imparting knowledge as a lecturer at prestigious institutions such as the University of Chicago School of Law and NYU School of Law’s Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement.
What truly sets Chuck apart is not just his professional prowess but his commitment to nurturing the compliance profession. He passionately advocates for NSCP members, playing an instrumental role in shaping pivotal regulatory discussions and steering the discourse on CCO liability.
But beyond his professional accomplishments, Chuck is known for his innate ability to connect, mentor, and uplift others within the compliance community. Described by NSCP members as a friend, advisor, mentor, and a beacon of light, Chuck’s impact extends beyond the boardrooms and regulatory halls.
His wisdom, shared generously with NSCP members, encapsulates a philosophy of collaboration, continuous learning, and genuine human connection. Chuck’s emphasis on working collaboratively, fearlessly voicing opinions, and nurturing relationships transcends the confines of titles, reflecting a profound understanding of the essence of community.
In the words of Maya Angelou, "I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people." Chuck Senatore epitomizes this ethos – a hero of the compliance realm, tirelessly dedicated to elevating standards, fostering growth, and making the financial services world a better, more compliant space for all.
I look forward to seeing how Chuck continues to lead and represent NSCP as our 2023 JH Award Winner. I have no doubt that Chuck’s legacy will continue to inspire generations, leaving an indelible mark on the compliance community for years to come.
