Manager – Marketing Compliance

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Manager - Marketing Compliance performs a key risk management role to help ensure that all advertising and marketing across Hines globally complies with applicable laws and regulations. This role will review marketing material for consistency with U.S. and International regulatory standards as they apply to private real estate funds and U.S. publicly registered non-traded REITs and approve materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES

▪Reviews and approves marketing materials used by members of Hines capital raising teams in the U.S., U.K., Europe, Middle East/North Africa and Asia.

▪Acts as a subject matter expert for the capital raising teams in helping to ensure marketing materials comply with U.S., U.K., E.U. (primarily) legal and regulatory requirements related to securities and investment-related advertising.

▪Provide guidance on business policies, standards, and procedures.

▪Identify trends in monitoring and supervision of data, advise on emerging risks and provide guidance to business regarding marketing regulatory requirements.

▪Work with outside counsel for Hines’ U.S. public non-traded REIT to implement changes to marketing material and disclosures required by the Securities and Exchange Commission, states regulators and/or the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

▪Administer AdMaster, the third-party cloud-based advertising review system used by Hines and use the software to assist the firm in achieving an efficient marketing material review process.

▪ Create summary reports to Compliance and Business Management that detail compliance metrics, findings and corrective actions.

▪ Participates in other projects as delegated by the Marketing Compliance Director.

EXPERIENCE

▪Four or more years of investment marketing or marketing review experience, preferred.

EDUCATION

▪Bachelor’s degree in from an accredited institution preferred or equivalent years of direct experience required.

SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS

▪Series 7 & Series 24 required at joining; Must be current with FINRA Continuing Education.

▪Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) the financial services industry as well as financial instruments (non-traded Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), real estate private placements, Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs).

▪Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) U.S SEC and FINRA advertising regulations, as well as global securities regulations relating to marketing material content in various jurisdictions.

▪Good communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to build relationships with individuals at all levels.

▪Strong independent judgment in reviewing materials and ensuring compliance.

▪Maintain in-depth knowledge of the business and its activities to ensure adequate marketing compliance oversight and resources; advise the business on emerging compliance issues.

▪Experienced in using Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, SharePoint.

▪Willingness to learn and work within a team environment.

▪Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

▪Ability to function in a dynamic sales environment with tight deadlines.

▪High level of initiative, the ability to act independently using sound judgment.

▪Strong analytical, writing, and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn while ensuring that all deadlines are met.

WORKING CONDITIONS

▪Work indoors approximately 100% of the time
